My immediate leadership experience is having served as the business
manager for the CS GSO in the past year under circumstances where each
of the officers were expected to act in a co-equal way, thus
giving experience not just as a business manager but also as an overall
leader. During my past year I co-ordinated meetings with two department
chairs to discuss the CS GSO's future and for co-operation with the
student body. We hosted successful events and grew the GSO's
relationship with the new umbrella organization, SCI GSO.
Before that I have experience working in a semi-managerial role in a
previous research lab, overseeing and assisting research assistants. I
developed a flexible work style and good interpersonal skills as
required by the work.
Less formally I am a natural leader, drawn to do what is necessary. I
initially took the offer to pursue business manager because the work
needed to be done, thinking to myself "if nobody else will or can do
it, then I will." In group settings I tend toward leader behaviors,
such as on group term projects.
